Your Ultimate 12 Month Wedding Beauty Timeline

 In Bridal Makeup, Wedding

Every bride wants to look absolutely stunning on their wedding day. As soon as you get engaged you should begin gathering your team of experts and map out your beauty timeline. However simple or complex your beauty regimen is, the most important thing to remember is not to try anything new or drastic close to the wedding. As an experienced wedding and event makeup artist, I have seen my fair amount of beauty mishaps leading up to a wedding. For this reason, I have compiled a twelve month timeline to keep you stress free and looking amazing.

12 months
Research makeup artists that specialize in weddings and events and check their availability.

Talk to your hairstylist to see if he or she specializes in wedding and event hair.  Just because your cut and color looks great doesn’t mean your stylist can create a bridal style that will last 8-12 hours. Styling is a specialty. If she doesn’t regularly do weddings and have great reviews, start researching and move on.

If you aren’t currently, start working with a trainer and or nutritionist and get your fitness on.

How is your brow game? Do you need microblading, waxing, threading or brow tinting?
Are you loving your lashes? Do you need a lash lift and tint, want to wear falsies, or want to get lash extensions?

Are you happy with your smile? Discuss teeth whitening, veneers, etc with your dentist.

Definitely speak with your esthetician to plan out your skin care regimen to make sure your makeup canvas is exceptional.

If you are thinking about fillers, Botox, laser, etc. research providers and set up consults with your dermatologist.

8 months
Try out anything you haven’t done before such as facials, body scrubs, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, Botox, fillers, etc to make sure you don’t react adversely and that you like the result.

Make sure you have your hair and makeup booked for the wedding day and schedule consult and previews for each.

4-6 months
Have your consult and previews for hair and makeup now.  That way if you need to have a second preview for either there will be time. Many future brides have come to me last minute to have a preview because they were unhappy with their makeup preview with another artist.

3 months
If you have never had your brows waxed, threaded, now is the time. If you like them, schedule your maintenance. If you don’t like them, they have time to grow back in. In the case of microblading you need to start the process about 12 weeks out.

60 days
If you have never spray tanned, research providers and have one done. If you like it, schedule with the same provider for the week of the wedding. Make sure the same person does it and uses the exact same formula when you go back the week of the wedding. Start researching lash extension artists or begin a lash serum regimen.

45 days
Try any masks, under eye patches, lip scrubs, etc you are thinking about using on the day of the wedding to make sure you do not react adversely. After this point, you should not be experimenting with new skin care products.

30 days
Did you decide on lash extensions? Get your full set now to make sure you do not have product allergies and like how they look. Schedule your fill for the week of the wedding and make sure the same adhesive is used. Schedule your manicure and pedicure for the week of the wedding.
Per your dentists recommendation, get your whitening done or start using your whitening strips.

14 – 21 days
Have a facial, Microcurrent, Peel or Microdermabrasion
Between now and the day of the wedding it is critical that you wear sunscreen. You do not want to get burned and start peeling the week of the wedding. Trust me on this. I have seen it happen.

7 days
Have your final hair color done so it has time to settle.

2-4 days
Get your final Microcurrent, Dermaplaning or Gua Sha Facial per esthetician’s recommendation. Have a body scrub, do your brows and any other body or facial waxing and get a spray tan…in that order. Now it’s time for your final lash fill, manicure & pedicure.

Wedding Eve
Skin looks best when it’s hydrated. Drink water all day long. See you dermatologist to treat any last minute acne cysts if any.

Wash and dry hair according to stylist’s instructions and fully remove all of your makeup. Now is the time to break out those under eye gel pads and face mask you tested a couple months ago. Get some sleep!

Wedding Day
Gently cleanse and prepare skin according to your esthetician & makeup artist’s instruction.

Breathe and smile.
